In a statement recently issued by Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, he claims to have been cleared of any wrongdoing in the alleged crack video case but complained that media lawyers and police say are saying ‘not so fast.’

According to the mayor, he takes it as vindication that the OPP have stepped back from the Toronto police investigation into the mayor. Ford stated that “I knew the day was going to come that I’d be cleared and I guess today’s the day.” However, it may be a little too early for Ford to make that conclusion. A Toronto police representative, Mark Pugash, highlighted that investigation isn’t over yet. According to Pugash, “Project Brazen 2 is an ongoing investigation. There is still work to be done.” It was elucidated that “when the investigation is concluded, we expect to sit down with the OPP and the crown to decide what the next step is.”

In addition to that, multiple sources have alleged that their sources claim that there is very little or no chance that charges against Mr. Ford will follow after the investigation. However, a media lawyer, Peter Jacobson, claims that he’s heard the rumour and doesn’t know if the Crown has confirmed that. Whereas, an OPP spokesman has alleged that there’s been no new evidence provided since it moved into the oversight role early last month. The latest documents released on Thursday detail third-party sources saying Ford knew dirty cops.
