We all know that Ranbir Kapoor made his big Bollywood debut with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Saawariya alongside Sonam Kapoor back in 2007. However, the film wasn’t really Ranbir Kapoor’s first time facing a camera.
In fact, a couple of years before Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor featured in a short film titled India 1964 that was directed by Ittefaq’s director Abhay Chopra. The said short film took a look at Capital Punishment in India during the sixties. A fictional piece set against a historic background during which anti-capital punishment revolutions started, depicts a father’s dilemma when his own son is sentenced to death.
The 26 minute film features Sharad Saxena as Raj Malhotra, a jailor who has been performing execution for the past few decades and goes about his business devoid of feeling. However, everything changes when he is faced with having to kill a person who he not only knows but loves.
Back on the film front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on his next venture, the Sanjay Dutt biopic that is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
On the other hand, Abhay Chopra made his Bollywood debut as a director today with Ittefaq starring Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna.
