Quite different from his usual self, Emraan Hashmi took a complete shift from the roles he is resonated with when films like Cheat India and Father’s Day were announced. While both are his productions, the actor decided to undergo this complete makeover because the stories of these films are relevant in today’s times. Emraan, in recent reports, spoke about what instigated him to make these films and why he decided to undergo this image makeover.
Emraan Hashmi in a recent interview confessed that considering how some of his previous films didn’t work. The actor-producer, known for his straightforward nature, confessed that he did feel at times that he was sleepwalking through some of the films although he refrained from taking names. He also believes that Cheat India and Father’s Day are stories that are very relevant in today’s times. He also maintained that probably making them 10 years ago would probably have not seen such an impact then but this is the right time for this kind of cinema. According to him, the language of cinema and the audiences have undergone a change that has prompted him to set these projects in motion.
Cheat India deals with the malpractices of the education system and has already gone on floor earlier this month. The actor also went on to cite real life examples of the exam paper scams and leaks that have happened in the past few years. In recent reports, he spoke about the SSC and HSC paper leaks, the Vyapam entrance exam admission and recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh etc. He expressed his disappointment over how due to a few rich kids who have the money to buy out everything including papers and marks, the talented ones not only fail to get an opportunity but also people have to bear the consequences of having an unqualified person at a job. Having such kind of bribery may result in severe hazards in terms of certain professions like medical.
He also blamed the archaic education system which fails to update its content often and add to that the ongoing problem of student teacher ratio. Not only does a teacher face the pressure of handling a massive class of many students but often teachers aren’t qualified enough to teach the kids. Cheat India, reportedly, is expected to touch upon these concerns. The actor went on to speak about how only 4 percent of the GDP is invested in the education system instead of 6 percent. He also elaborated on how constant pressure on grades instead of overall development is ever increasing and often drive students to commit suicide as they feel incompetent in the competition.
When it comes to his son Ayaan, Emraan Hashmi, like any father wants him to have the best. However, he doesn’t believe much in the education system that focuses on only grades. So he has ensured that Ayaan doesn’t study in the same board as he did. The current board of his son focuses on developing social skills, sense of discipline and responsibility and about the development all over.
Interesting his other film Father’s Day too is based on children. It is inspired from the real life story of Suryakant Bhande Patil, a Pune based civil engineer turned private investigator who has solved over 120 child kidnapping cases for free. Emraan Hashmi described that when he first heard the script it left him emotionally charged and so satiated that he has rarely experienced it before. He feels that may be the father son angle in the story was the reason behind the same.
