Kareena Kapoor, post her maternity break, is making sure to try different kinds of roles – be it Veere Di Wedding or turning a radio host. Kareena will be next seen in the role of Kaa, the python, in Netflix’s original movie, Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle. The film is set to start streaming on the platform on December 7 in both English and Hindi.
At the world premiere of the film on November 25 in Mumbai, Kareena Kapoor Khan talked about why she decided to take over the role. “Everybody has grown up watching The Jungle Book. Our whole youth has been about Mowgli, Bagheera, Baloo and other characters. These characters have actually lived with us. I think it’s amazing that now we are getting to see them on a global platform like Netflix,” she said.
Talking about the character of Kaa, Kareena revealed that it was Saif who insisted her to take on the role. “When the project was just offered to me, Saif (Ali Khan) said he hoped that I was offered Kaa only. Because it’s a very powerful and unique character. So I am very honoured to be playing and lending my voice to this character,” she added.
Talking about taking different kinds of roles, she added, “My fans have seen me doing girl-next-door roles. But, I have always tried to do something different and with this, everyone will be pleasantly surprised when they hear me playing Kaa.”
The English version of Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle will feature Rohan Chand as Mowgli, Matthew Rhys as John Lockwood, Freida Pinto as Messua, Christian Bale as Bagheera, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan, Naomie Harris as Nisha, Andy Serkis as Baloo, Peter Mullan as Akela among others.
