USA: Free $30 Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…There is drama sensationalism and a gripping narrative in Heroine - Kareena Kapoor Kareena Kapoor is enjoying an eventful year. She started off the year with a success in the form of Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, didn't really have much to celebrate with Agent Vinod but is now seen, heard and spoken about all over with Heroine around the corner. No wonder, this is also one of those films where she is driving the film entirely on her own (along with her director Madhur Bhandarkar of course) with Heroine carrying a firm tag of being (obviously) a heroine centric film. Even as one waits to see how many skeletons come out of the cupboard, Kareena is happy to see the film gain momentum en route to its arrival.

Kareena Kapoor playing the title role of a Heroine in a Madhur Bhandarkar film. Isn't this something that just doesn't need any introduction and sets the stage right for the film at the very onset?
Well, it’s a Madhur Bhandarkar film after all and he is not known for making preachy or message oriented films. He tells stories which are exciting and entertaining while keeping the right balance between being hard hitting and also give those scenes and dialogues to the audience which are enjoyable. Heroine is no different.

In fact from you and the film, one would expect a complete inside account of what really happens in the world of films.
Yes, there is an inside account for sure and as Mahi Arora, my character has been inspired by Hollywood as well as Indian film stars. We are not trying to hide anything either (smiles). In the very first promo we established that this girl is emotional, moody, 'sanki' and what not. We have got the platter ready and told the audience what to expect from the Mahi and Heroine.

One does expect certain depth to the story though.
Of course yes, there is an underlined subplot about what happens behind the scenes and the manipulations that take place. Whether it is Page 3 or Fashion, Madhur has never shied away from showing what they are and Heroine too follows the trend. Expect some surprises in store.

Guess Madhur has a knack of telling such stories, courtesy his repertoire of films ever since Chandni Bar got into a dark and murky world. For Heroine though how much did Madhur Bhandarkar come in handy? Did he go about sharing tips on how to go about with the part?
(Says after a pause) Both of us are very instinctive in nature and that worked for Heroine too. We deliver our best in the very first go and that was one of the major reasons why we didn't even go about with workshops and all. This film is made with passion, love and understanding and Madhur and I have lived this movie for every minute of its playing time. When people will see that on screen, they would understand.

So, do we end up seeing an out and out serious film or are there light elements as well?
(Smiles) Madhur can't have comic relief in his movies as that's not the kind of cinema that he makes. There is drama, sensationalism and a gripping narrative where you don't necessarily expect comic elements to be incorporated in order to entertain audience. The film is about this character that has to be connected to the audience and Madhur has been successful in that endeavor. Even audience want to see what happens behind the scenes in the life of a heroine instead of laughing their guts out.

Meanwhile, your supporting cast seems to be in a serious zone though. Both Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda are known for their brooding act.
Yes, they are brooding for sure. My relationship with both of them is dramatically different though. With Arjun, who is playing a superstar, it is volatile while with Randeep who enacts the part of a cricketer, it is sweet and real. The way these relationships pan out is great and what makes them special is the fact that they are very close to reality. (Smiles) However before you ask, just to add that none of them is based on one particular actor or cricketer. Madhur has been inspired by so many of them and that's incorporated in the characterization of these two men.

And how about the man in your life, Saif Ali Khan?
Well, what about him? (Smiles) Obviously everyone seems to be much more curious about us and our wedding than Saif and I. When we decide the date then people will get to know. Come on, the world knows that we are together so what's the big deal really. I hope that people talk more about me as Heroine than my wedding.
