USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…After Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Ashutosh Gowariker is now busy with his magnum opus Mohenjo Daro. The film which went on floors recently in Bhuj, Gujarat is now caught up in a crisis after the workers around the set refused to complete the work and hence the shoot was stalled for about three days.
These union members who belong to Allied Mazdoor Union and Film Studio Setting claimed that they had stopped their work owing to non-payment of their dues. In fact, Gangeshwar Srivastava, general secretary of the union, mentioned that their members have been on the set for more than a month but they weren't provided their remuneration neither were the regular expenses covered. He also further added that they had to send money to them for performing the Vishwakarma Pooja on September 17.
As the work was stalled, producer Ashutosh Gowariker decided to take the legal route and lodged a complaint with the Indian Film and Television Producers Council accusing the members of stalling work that will result to losses in the company.
However, Lawrence D'Souza, executive producer of the film maintained that though they had the payments ready, since the shooting venue was located in Bhuj, the fees could not reach the workers on time.
Co-produced by UTV, Mohenjo Daro is directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and it stars Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in lead roles. The film, which will also be extensively shot in South Africa, is slated to release on January 22, 2016.
