Nathan Jawan White arrested for bank robbery in Toronto
The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in connection with two bank robberies.
On Thursday, March 9, 2023, shortly after noon, officers responded to a holdup call in the Bloor Street West/Bathurst Street area. Approximately 20 minutes later, officers responded to a second holdup call in the Danforth Avenue/Coxwell Avenue area.
It is alleged that in both incidents:
- a man entered a bank and approached a teller while wearing a mask and gloves to conceal his identity
- the man handed a note demanding cash and indicated he had a firearm
- the man took a quantity of cash then fled the area
Responding officers located the man who attempted to flee. With the assistance of the Police Dog Services, the man was taken into custody.
It is further alleged that:
- at the time of arrest, officers recovered a quantity of the stolen cash
Nathan Jawan White, 24, of Toronto, was charged with:
- two counts of Robbery
- two counts of Disguise With Intent
- Possession Property Obtained by Crime
- Obstruct Peace Officer
He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Old City Hall, at 10 a.m. in courtroom 111.
