Hindus are concerned at the play “Displaced Hindu Gods”, which is having a world premiere at Minneapolis (Minnesota, USA) on October two and is announced to run from October five to 27.
Play announcement of this Mixed Blood Theatre production says that it is based on the trinity of Hindu deities- Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva- each displaced into the contemporary Western world.
Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, pointed out that Brhama-Vishnu-Shiva were highly revered deities in Hinduism and were meant to be worshipped in temples and home shrines and not to be trivialized on theater stages.
Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, noted that Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva were divine and theater/film/art were welcome to create projects about/around them showing their true depiction as mentioned in the scriptures. Creating irrelevant imagery hurt the devotees, Zed added.
Rajan Zed further said that we needed to be more sensitive about the feelings of “others”. Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of the world with about one billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought and it should not be taken lightly.

Vision statement of Minneapolis based Mixed Blood Theatre, founded in 1976, includes “create and share work that spawns a ripple effect of social change”. Susan P. Mackay, Jack Reuler and Amanda White Thietje are Board President, Artistic Director-Founder and Managing Director respectively.
