You aren't really sure of what to expect from the music of Ishqedarriyaan. There is inkling though of something melodious in the offering since the promo had hinted of melodic tunes. Moreover, with the names Jeet Ganguly and Jaidev Kumar on the credits as the composers, you do feel that the music won't be a pushover after all. With composer Bilal Saeed chipping in as well with Kumaar, Kausar Munir, Bilal Saeed and Manoj Muntashir contributing with the lyrics, this one seems to be a musical in the making.

MUSIC

There is a massive surprise right at the beginning of the album with Arijit Singh being heard at his characteristic best in 'Judaa'. A brilliant composition by Jaidev Kumar which has some heartfelt lyrics by Kumaar, this one is clearly the song of the season. While there are quite a few romantic and sad songs playing around in numerous soundtracks that have just been released, this one pretty much surpasses them all to emerge as the best in the offering. Hear it and you would know how it could just have easily made to the likes of Aashiqui 2 or Ek Villain and emerged as yet another 'Tum Hi Ho' or 'Teri Galliyan'. Superb!

The makers seem to have their heart in right place for the music and this is pretty much apparent in the guitar strings that are heard right at the beginning of the title song 'Ishqedarriyaan'. There isn't much to choose between which of the two songs should have come right at the beginning – whether this or 'Judaa'. However the fact remains that this Jeet Ganguly composition is a winner all the way with some fantastic contribution coming from lyricist Kausar Munir who spins wonderful lyrics. As for Ankit Tiwari, he is just the perfect man for a song belonging to this genre and ensures that listeners are entertained.

Meanwhile, romantic flavour continues with 'Das Dae' and this time around the man roped in for the job is Mohit Chauhan. A slow moving number with a sensitive mood to it, this Jaidev Kumar composition has a Punjabi flavour to it, courtesy lyricist Kumaar who gets it right once again. A serene piece that flows like a breeze during its four minute duration; it is almost an unplugged outing for the musical team here.

Guitar strings make an appearance yet again and that too at the very beginning for 'Mohabbat Yeh' which is an all-rounder show for composer-lyricist-singer Bilal Saeed. The 26 year old from Pakistan makes a fantastic debut in a Bollywood outing and makes sure that his effort is certainly noticed. What also amazes is the fact that his track is pretty much in synch with the rest of the soundtrack and doesn't sound out of place at all. No wonder, the song is deserving enough to find a 'reprise version'. Ironically, this is also the first time when a female singer is heard and Asees Kaur makes sure that she makes a solid impression.

It is the melodious mood created by the first four numbers in the album that you are not particularly excited about checking out what 'Georgia Sae Jalandhar' has to offer. Though the team involved comes with good credibility, what with composer Jeet Ganguly and lyricist Manoj Muntashir bringing Master Saleem on board as the lyricist, you do feel that it doesn't quite fit into the romantic mood of the soundtrack so far. One just suspects that this one may play as a celebratory outing in the end credits roll to conclude the film on a jubilant note.

OVERALL

Ishqedarriyaan boasts of some really good numbers and emerges as the surprise album of the season. While there are quite a few songs that come with potential to be popular, the fact of the matter is that just around 20 days remain for the release of the film which means the promotion would have to be really aggressive to make the soundtrack reach out to the audience. Just like Mahakshay's last musical Haunted, the songs of which can be heard till date, this one too would enjoy a good shelf life for itself.
