Gurtong visited the site in Riwoto, the Kapoeta North County Headquarters together with the County Executive Director, Mr. David Eriga Enodius to observe the development.

The bricks shall be used to construct the County guest house, Commissioner’s residence and three executive officers’ residences, the Executive Director divulged that his County has hired 31 labourers to engage in the brick production project  with over 120,000 bricks so far produced in the last two weeks .

The labourers were drawn from Nimule Payam in Magwi County; Mr. Eriga anticipates the production of over 500,000 and 1,000,000 bricks to be ready by March 2012.

He further revealed that, “surpluses of these bricks will be sold to contractors who will be constructing Payam headquarters and the bricks’ proceeds shall then be used for purchasing finishing materials such as furniture and other items for the County guest house,” he elaborated.

Project initiation
The Director told Gurtong that due to accommodation difficulties for civil servants in the County, he joined hands with Commissioner Lokai Iko and other senior civil servants in the County in consultations with the host community members and reached a consensus to develop appropriate housing structures.
