9,109 Pupils Sit For Primary Leaving Examinations

9,109 pupils in Central Equatoria State (CES) are sitting for their Basic and Primary Leaving Examinations. The candidates are 3,614 females and 5,495 males; an education official informed Gurtong last Wednesday.

In an official interview with the CES Director of State Examination in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Wani Lado Lobuju explained that the pupils are sitting for two types of examinations, the Basic and Primary Leaving Examinations.

However, pupils sitting for the Primary Leaving Examinations, (PLE) a Ugandan curriculum standard for the last time, the Education Ministry will face it out by next year.

He explained that, 3,825 pupils; 1,229 and 2,596 females and males respectively are sitting for the Primary Leaving Examinations and 5,284 pupils; 2,385 and 2,899 females and males respectively are sitting for the Basic Education Certificate.

“This year we expect good performance because the pupils completed their syllabus in time. The only problem in the department of examinations is mobility due to delays from the Ministry of Finance,” he said.

PLE pupils are doing 4 subjects; English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, meanwhile pupils sitting for the Basic examinations sit for 7 subjects; English, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, Religion, We in Contemporary World-(SST) and Nutrition.
