The Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly in Torit [©Gurtong]The Eastern Equatoria State (EES) Parliamentarians who are in a 3 month recess since December 2011 have been recalled to Torit to witness the assent of the EES transitional constitution. 
  
Following the completion of drafting the constitution in October last year, the State Technical Drafting Committee headed by Mr. Clement Laku Chichim presented the State Transitional Constitution to the Governor at State Secretariat General in Torit. 
  
The Eastern Equatoria State Legislative Assembly’s (EESLA) Speaker Emmanuel Ambrose Ocholimoi said that after consultation with the State Governor, as stipulated in article 15 of conduct of Business regulation emergency sitting which states, “In case of an emergency and if the Assembly is not in session, the State Governor or the Speaker may call an extra-ordinary sitting of the Assembly at any time, he or she considers expedient.” 
  
 “You are hereby informed to come and witness the assent of the transitional constitution and swearing in of the State Governor on 20th January 2012 at Torit freedom square. After that, the State Governor at a later date shall preside over convocation of the searing in and transformation of the EESLA. Because you are on recess, you are required to report to Torit from January 15 th-18th, 2012; but everybody is directed to be in by 19th January 2012, a circular dated 3th January 2012, addressed to all State MPs from the Speaker Mr. Ocholimoi stated.
  
An invitation by chairperson of the organizing committee reads, “You are cordially invited to attend the ceremonial assent of the 2011 transitional constitution of EES which is scheduled to take place on 20th January 2012 at Torit freedom square.” The occasion will commence at 8:30 am.
  
Mr. Laku clarified that the EES Transitional constitution was finally approved after thorough review by the National Ministry of Justice in Juba and it is in conformity with the National Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan.
