The 150 South Sudanese arrived after the first batch comprising 120 fellow countrymen arrived in Juba last week.

The Deputy Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sabina Dario Lokolong told the press that an estimated 500 South Sudanese are still in Israel and are expected to be flown back in the coming days.

She thanked the Israeli government’s efforts to decently repatriate the returnees and refuted claims that South Sudanese are being deported as they are now nationals of an independent country.

“We are delighted to receive our second batch of returnees today from Israel and we are also happy to say that the Israeli government has done its best to organise their return home with dignity”, said Lokolong.

“We wish the returnees the best as they resettle in South Sudan with their families. We are coordinating with the state offices so that they can reach their destinations safely”, she said.

The repatriation came a week after a high level delegation visited Tel Aviv following a threat to deport African migrants in the country.
