Kenyan Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka claims that the vote results were doctored. Talking to the journalists, Musyoka said he has evidence to prove that in some cases total votes cast exceeds the actual number of registered voters. Nevertheless, he requested the masses to keep calm as his party was committed to the principle of rule of law.

“Because of these concerns, we as a coalition take the position that the national vote tallying process lacks integrity and has to be stopped,” Musyoka said.

“Some people may be taking the view that the elections will be credible. Nobody has been radical so far and that has provided confidence for the shilling,” said Duncan Kinuthia, head of trading at Commercial Bank of Africa.

Politicians were alarmed over a system failure under which the electoral commission had been broadcasting running tallies based on encrypted text messages received from polling stations. Authorities have urged masses to stay calm as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Wednesday was requested to announce results delivered in person by returning officers.

On the other hand, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was allegedly forced to push away Cord and Jubilee politicians who threatened to capture the podium that commissioners were using to announce the presidential results. It all started when some politicians began criticizing the IEBC commissioners while they were announcing results from various constituencies.
