Speaking during the closure of six-month project aimed at empowering the youth in peace building, Peace building Manager for Catholic Relief Service (CRS), Mr. Kogo Manase urged the youth trained in Peace building skills in Kapoeta South County that it is important for our communities especially young men and women, to employ such diplomatic manner when trying to decide conflicts among themselves in their respective communities.

He insisted that young men and women should know to manage their emotions as he urged them to extend the knowledge on peace building, they have acquired, so their people be able to benefit by using the technique to resolving conflicts without necessarily using brutality among themselves.

Mr. Kogo said that apart from cattle rustling there are diverse social issues that affect the adolescent population or group including street children, and negative cultural practices.

He said the young people are ready to resolve problems before they explode to bigger extend but skills and management of emotions become very significant.

The peace actor Kogo disclosed that the youth project under the theme ‘LEAD’ handles leadership skills, empowerment, advocacy and development aspects of the lives of the youth in respect to peace building activities among the community.

He said the project was piloted in two Counties of Eastern Equatoria state and would be extended to others.
