North Korea reiterates its discontent over tightened economic sanctions by Washington and its allies. The isolated country has threatened to target U.S. military bases if Washington continues drafting new ways to crush Pyongyang’s main foreign exchange bank.

The United States has been time and again threatened with nuclear war while North Korea has demonstrated its war potential by conducting drone attacks on South Korea. According to China, Pyongyang’s one major ally, the matter at hand is extremely fragile.

Pyongyang insists that these new sanctions from United Nations are part of a Washington-led plan to bring down its leadership. China called on all parties to show restraint. “At present, the situation on the Korean peninsula remains complex and sensitive,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said.

“From this moment, the Supreme Command of the Korean People’s Army will be putting into combat duty posture No. 1 all field artillery units, including long-range artillery units and strategic rocket units, that will target all enemy objects in U.S. invasionary bases on its mainland, Hawaii and Guam,” the North’s KCNA news agency said.

On the other hand, South Korean defence ministry believes North Korea will not engage itself in hostile military action. Most of the analysts say Pyongyang will not risk clashing with the United States or else it will fall apart.

South Korea and the U.S. military are conducting ‘so-called’ defensive drills until April while the North blames Washington for preparing for war as it used B-52 bombers which have flown over the Korean peninsula as part of the drills.
