Speaking to Gurtong in an exclusive interview, Marial who expressed regrets over the incident however, disagreed with previous figures reported that, about US $6 million were been stolen.

“This is a report which is not focused. As you know the office of the President is a large complex and the administration side is very far from the President’s office,” Dr. Marial said.

“Yes there is a break-in in which some money was taken some thing of about 170,000 South Sudan Pounds (SSP) and about $14,000 US Dollars that was broken into. So the administration offices are investigating the course,” Marial admitted.

“It was not near in the office of the President and there is nothing like US $ 6 million. There is no where someone can keep US $6 million in the office,” added Marial. “The money taken was a petty cash. This money is kept for payment of drivers and overtime and any emergency situation that come up,” he said.

Some media outlet had reported the incident quoting anonymous source at the Presidency alleging that $6 million US Dollars was stolen over the weekend.
