The Undersecretary for Labour, Hellen Achiro Lotara said that the programme would look in to the concerns of the three groups.

“This is a tripartite body where by the government, the employers and the workers are represented. There will be an orientation regarding two main conventions what we intend to rectify as a government, convention 87 and convention 144,” Achiro said.

“We would be having a meeting with the subcommittee of Labour at the General Assembly and all these would pave way for the quick enactment of our Labour Bill so that we comply with the International Labour Organization (ILO),” she said.

The Undersecretary for Labour, Hellen Achiro said the special workshop is to prepare for the Labour Advisory Council that would look into the fundamental principle and rights at work, whereby all issues pertaining labour will be addressed.

“In an event that there is some kind of Labour dispute, it is this Labour Advisory Board that would sit together and discuss,” she said.

On his part the Senior Reports Officer Programme on Promoting the Declaration, Momar N’Diaye said the International Labour Organization is working with South Sudan to design programmes based on rights of workers.

“ILO has being working with South Sudan to design a decent work county programme based on rights at work, employment policy, social protection and social dialogue. This means that you need to have good labour standards,” said N’Diaye.

Meanwhile, the Information Secretary for South Sudan Workers Trade Union Federation, Kachuol Majuang Kachuol said the workers are looking forward for a mechanism of how we can implement that tripartite.

“We are very happy today and we hope that we will gain something from this because of the laborers in South Sudan and we are working together to make sure that things work well,” said Majuang.

The National Legislative Assembly resumed normal business on Tuesday.
