In a stamped letter from the office of Yei Municipality Mayor as directed by Major Gen. Clement Wani Konga, the Governor of Central Equatoria State, through the Governor’s Advisor on Security Affairs, copied to the commissioners of Yei River County, Morobo, Kajokeji and Lainya counties, the governor calls on the trained organized forces to report to Juba within three days.

The forces include trained Sudan People Liberation Army, Police, Wildlife, Prison, Fire Brigade and Air Defense Forces regardless of their age status.

According to the documented communication, all the organized forces are to gather at the headquarters of their various counties with exception of Yei Municipality where the forces are to gather at the Mayor’s office for easy transportation to Juba.

Sephana Ali Sungusu, the Deputy Mayor for Yei Municipality confirmed to Gurtong that the former downsized organized forces during the reintegration process of the SPLA into real forces are called on board for more training so that they get prepared to defend the country as the country is battling to flash out the rebels loyal to the former vice president Dr. Riek Machar.

He added that the move is applicable only to those people who got training before but not for freshers’, adding that it is advisable that all those downsized forces are re-equipped as a backup to defend the country against rebel aggression.

As the regional body, the Inter-Government Association for Development mediates the peace talks between the Government of South Sudan and the former VP Riek Machar in Ethiopian Capital, Addis Ababa, many citizens are on their knees praying for a breakthrough in the peace talks.

The alleged coup attempt on the 15th of December 2013 in Juba has so far claimed 1,000 lives and more than 180,000 are internally displaced at various United Nation Mission In South Sudan compounds across the country and thousands are still fleeing to the neighboring countries for safety.
