Dr. Levi Elias, from the state ministry of health made the appeal on Friday at a closing ceremony of a workshop organized for payam health officers in Yambio County.

The Director for County Health Department Mr. James Ezekiel Ndokpo said the workshop aimed at discussing the achievements, challenges of 2013 and strategic plans for 2014.

Dr. Elias appreciated the participants for the higher turn up and encouraged them to improve services to the communities since good health is very important.

He hailed health workers for their hard work despite the challenges and as he urged them to double their efforts this year to ensure more achievement is made compared to last year.

Mr. Richard Bagboro, one of the participants in the workshop from Bangasu Health centre said malaria has been the biggest challenge last year although lack of safe drinking water, insufficient drugs and inadequate qualified health personnel have been serious challenges..

Another representative from Ri-Rangu Payam health centre said they received a standard generator from the Government to the hospital but said lack of an ambulance makes their work of saving lives very difficult.

Mr. Phillip Gaza, the representative of Yambio Prison Health Centre said their facility has been working for 24 hours daily to help not only the prisoners but also the neigbouring community.

The workshop resolved to ensure effective delivery of services to the community and ensure maximum respect to the patients and plant trees around the Health Centers.
