The participants were mainly community leaders such as chiefs and women representatives. Youth and International Non-governmental organizations’ representatives were also present in this workshop.

The aim of the training was to acquaint the participants with the transitional constitution of South Sudan, Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) contents and other traditional rights.

Ms Elizabeth Nyanut Henry Angok, a civil society organization leader in the state said the training workshop would help community members and enable them to play their role in implementing the most of outlined duties of the community more correctly than ever before.

“This workshop is meant to make awareness to the community especially leaders, chiefs, women and youth to play their role as part of this country so that every person does what is required of them in our society,” said Nyanut. 

“We must work together to correct our errors of where we went wrong especially from the civil society support to the government and contribution to the constitution’s knowledge and implementation of its contents.”

The chief’s Representatives, Chan Mawien Jongkor expressed gratitude to the organizers of the workshop especially on the enlightenment on the CPA and other statutory norms in the country.

“It is good that we are brought together on our rights and limits in all these legal aspects of our constitution and other contents herewith learnt during this workshop,” said Mawien. “We (are) fully enlightened and strengthened to do what is rights and (perform) our duty while in our mandate.”
