Though he did not specify whether his message was directed to otherpolitical parties’ members or to his fellow members, he has observed some politicians mobilizing citizens especially the youth for the support of votes.
“If you go out to Aweil town now, you will definitely find people campaigning and carrying out political rallies; who allowed them to be doing that. Has this been permitted by the ruling party? Such rallies are not allowed to continue as long as SPLM is still the ruling party in South Sudan.” He said.
Mangok claims that the SPLM party has to authorize any kind of campaigns to be conducted.
“SPLM is taking this as a responsibility to be granting and permitting only confirmed and authorized meetingsand political rallies whether outside the town or within the town but not political campaigns which are not yet allowed by the electoral terms.” He added.
Mangok warned that rallies can only be conducted through a written permission from the SPLM office whether in the Boma, payam, county or at the state level.
“The only way possible is that any political meetings or rallies shall be allowed to happen when the organizergets written authorization from either boma level, payam, county or at the state level if, without these; then the procedures shall be considered illegal for the political agenda and hence shall be dealt with security-wise.”
However, the Chairperson of South Sudan African National Congress or SSANC, Charles Akot Ayii has dismissed the remarks saying it is unreasonable.
“No political party is under any other political party in this world. We are a party; they are a party like any other party. Our permission to conduct any political rally is connected with security of the state and police; we shall only inform them as the ruling party about our venue if they are interested to send their representative to share with us but not approval at all.”
