JUBA 24th March 2015 [Gurtong] – Dr. Bul has been on an 8 day tour in the state to spread messages of peace to the local communities in Lakes State.

“There is calm now in the whole of Lakes State. It is not a simple one it needs a lot of work to be done. Our people need to be shown the right thing they can do in regards to peace” said the Arch. Bishop during his arrival in Juba.

He said, the National Peace and Reconciliation Committee (NPRC) and the ECSS including church leaders have come together to exert more effort to bring peace to the communities.

“We are now working together to make sure that the whole of Lakes State becomes calm again” he said.

“We thank God that especially the eastern side of Rumbek is now calm. It is only the northern part which last week there was some fighting”

Dr. Bul said, “We are working and now we have formed about fifty (50) members of our committee to go to all the cattle camps that we haven’t yet reached.”

Bishop Bul said that the church needs support from the communities in order for peace to be achieved.

“Our people are not bad but they need constant visits to inform and talk to them so that they understand that what they are doing is not good because killing a human being is a curse” he said.

“We are preaching to them that whatever you do here on earth will be on your record. So they need a lot of encouragement to know that they are needed to participate in the development of the Country” the Most Rev. said.

On March 16th the Most Rev. Bishop Daniel Deng said the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan is rallying Peace Mobilisers and targeting youth with messages urging them to consider living in peace and stop revenge killings among themselves.
