Juba 25th May, 2015. The Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AU) on Saturday called on the UN Security Council to impose targeted sanctions on South Sudanese individuals undermining peace efforts or instigating violence and also urged the UN Security Council to consider immediately imposing an arms embargo on South Sudan's warring parties. Community Empowerment for Progress Organization-CEPO welcomes the position of AU peace and Security Council that was reflected at their statement. CEPO is urge all institution and bodies in namely IGAD, Great Lakes Region Conference, AU ad hoc committee and special envoys to South Sudan peace search process to be proactive than reactive

Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO says valuing the lives of the innocent civilians at the moment is critical and paramount over any political interest. This should not at whatever cost be compromised. Placing political interest above safety and protection of the civilian is unacceptable trend and that should be not be favor by any regional or international institution or body

The demand for the stoppage of the war (permanent ceasefire) is the first priority on the road to peace. The South Sudan warring parties should opted for peaceful and non-violent settlement of the political crisis that the nation is facing. It is very clear that use of violent approach for settling the political crisis at our context of South Sudan means a lot. Among the key meanings is increasing community dependence on relief, increasing rate of illiteracy, creating health vulnerability and denying civilians reasonable standard of living. Mr. Yakani stressed

Finally, CEPO is urging the any coalition of regional and international institutions or bodies for fostering peaceful of the political crisis in South Sudan should first be impartial and place first the demand for permanent ceasefire on their agenda
