The two survivors of the Antenov 12B, Aircraft EY-406 that crashed in Juba on Wednesday a few minutes after taking off are undergoing treatment at Juba Teaching Hospital.

Dr. Abraham Adut, Director for Emergency at Juba Teaching Hospital confirmed to Gurtong that they are slowly recuperating at the hospital.

Adut dismissed the rumor that the victims died at the hospital after arrival. “That is not true. They are a alive”.

He said the victims were on Thursday taken to the theater for operation and are now undergoing treatment.

“Yes they are getting on well with the treatment. They are stable” he said.

“The total that died were 41 in number; 28 Adults, 7 children and 6 crew members”.

Dr. Adut said among those who died 28 adults, 10 female and 18 males; 7 Children, 6 boys and 1 girl; 6 Crew members, 5 Armenians and 1 Russian totaling 41.

Stephen Warikozi, Chief Executive Officer of South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority said on Wednesday that the plane that crashed belonged to Allien Air Service Cargo which was heading to Palouch airstrip in Upper Nile State.

“The registration of that aircraft is EY-406; type of aircraft is Antenov 12B. Captain Report to the tower that the person on board is 12 and fuel for five hours” Warikozi said on Wednesday.

 The plane crash had its tailfin and lumps of fuselage strewn in vegetation close to the water while the front part of the plane was separated at Gabat residential area.
