WAU, 20 June 2016 [Gurtong] – The Leadership of the Opposition party, the people’s liberal party has called for fair treatment of refugees and Internal displace persons (IDPs) across South Sudan.

The party’s chairperson, Peter Mayen Majongdit made the call on Sunday in the capital Juba ahead of the world refugee day which is marked on 20 June every year.

"We have international obligations to hosting refugees in South Sudan as we have a free environment which is friendly, as we have a similar experience of our people being displaced in some neighbouring countries across the world. We should also remember the suffering equally in treatment,” said Majongdit.

Majongdit said that the government should put in place policies that govern refugees across the country.
"We should have our internal policies that govern the refugee’s registrations; movement's to avoid harassment and unlawful treatments by law enforcement agents," he said.

He however, accused the government that it has failed to regulate the influx of foreigners in the country.
