Congressmen pay their last respects of their late colleague Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo on Monday. The remains of the late congressman were brought to the House of Representatives today from the Arroyos residence in La Vista, Quezon City for last respect ceremony.

Friends and family members walked beside the dead body as it entered the Congress lobby from the Batasan Pambansa main gate. The body was placed in the center of the Session hall for viewing by the colleagues as they paid respects and condoled with the family members of their late colleague. Immediate family members were present at the ceremony. These include Mike Arroyo, Mikey Arroyo, Dato Arroyo, Aleli Arroyo, and daughters Alelu, Dina, and Bianca.

Grace Ibuna, partner of the late-congressman, chose to stay on the sidelines as other congress colleagues came forward, paid their respects, and condoled with the family members.

Ibuna stayed in the VIP gallery of the Session hall of the House of Representatives at the time of service whereas family members remained near the casket covered in the flag. Ibuna also chose to remain surprisingly quite at the event and left while the wife of his late partner gave her eulogy.

She marked her husband as “gentle yet president” man. She also said, “Not only was he a good public servant, he was also the love of my life. He was indeed a good man of the House”.

Remains of the late congressman are to be flown to his home province, Negros Occidental on 9th March, 2012.
