The Supreme Court of Pakistan commenced the hearing of Asghar Khan case from where it left yesterday and instructed the attorney general of SC to gather all the relevant classified documents from the government which can be meaningful to the case and bring to the court at the earliest.

The panel of judges headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry with Justice Tariq Pervez and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the case on Friday demanding all other relevant documents and report on activities of Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) during the period and now shall be submitted to the court at the earliest.

The ex-army chief Aslam Beg, President of the Mehran Bank Younas Habib, and ex-director general of ISI General Asad Durrani were present in during the court hearing throughout the day. Mr. Beg submitted the rejoinder on the statement given by Younas Habib the day before. The statement was read before the court where apex court raised an issue over one of the paragraphs of the submitted statement by Mr. Beg and accused him of contempt of court.

SC had to ask Mr. Beg to submit a written apology to the court of his mistake, to which Mr. Beg submitted the written apology to the court right there and asked the concerned authorities in the court to take out the objected paragraph from his statement.

Mr. Beg and Mr. Durrani, both spoke before the court disagreeing with the statement submitted by Younas Habib on the matter and said that Mr. Habib is only making allegations without proof and is trying to hurt the image of the then president and ISI before the public.
