Supreme Court of Pakistan adjourned the hearing of the contempt of court case of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani yesterday, which is taking place now as Aitzaz Ahsen waits for some reference books in the court.

Earlier on Monday, SC had rejected the request plea put forward by the counsel of PM, Aitzaz Ahsen, to delay the verdict of the case of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) implementation. SC said that no more delays in the verdict of the case can be tolerated and that the verdict will be announced as per the schedule. The decision was given by the seven justices of the bench led by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk.

Ahsen had submitted a plea to the court asking that the decision on the NRO implementation case should be reserved until the contempt of court verdict is announced. However, the court rejected the plea of Ahsen and announced that the verdict will be declared as per schedule. Ahsen put forward his request saying, “Let me complete the arguments regarding contempt of court first, otherwise, my arguments would be of no use after a decision on the NRO is announced.”

In response the court announced that the verdict of the case will be announced and assured Ahsen that he should continue to give his arguments in the contempt of the court case as the decision of the NRO implementation case will not affect the decision of the contempt of court case.
