S. Korea delivers technology for Malaysia’s development

The Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin in his meeting with South Korea’s Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik discussed the matters regarding Malaysia’s development future on Tuesday. On Wednesday South Korea announced it was ready to deliver technology in order to assist Southeast Asian country to boost its development status. The technology that was offered by the Deputy Prime Minister was in the field of nuclear technology to produce energy in Malaysia.

Muhyiddin said this would further strengthen the existing bilateral ties that were established 50 years ago. “It appears that this is the best relations in the history of both countries with the top level visit and I have also invited him to visit Malaysia at an appropriate time,” he reported this after concluding his two-day working visit to South Korea. He held meetings with 18 captains of the industry in the republic.  

In accordance with Muhyiddin, there was a need for an in-depth study to see if the current sources of energy such as hydro, solar and wind still had the potential to be extended.

The efforts by the Prime Minister in his meeting to widen cooperation in the field of education were also discussed, for both the countries.

He said that the government was also prepared to become the regional education hub and was willing to receive more students from the republic for further studies in Malaysia in English language.

He said, “we have also sought the cooperation of South Korea to support Malaysia’s proposal to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council as well as the Children’s Rights Committee.”

There were more than 300 existing Malaysian students in South Korea whereas more than 3000 students from the republic were studying in Malaysia.
