Baluchistan suffers from Islamist militancy, sectarian violence between Sunni and Shiite Muslims and a separatist insurgency. On Monday, a bomb attack took place in Quetta.

According to Muhammad Anwar, a local police official, “An improvised-explosive device planted underneath a car parked on the roadside exploded near the bus of the local IT university, killing two students and wounding 25 others, mostly students.” He added, “It was not immediately clear if the bus was the target but we are investigating.” He said that it was not clear if the bus was under attack.

But as the recent media reports said, the blast killed 4 people and injured more than 50 that include 4 policemen and 4 women students. The toll might rise to at least 12 students.

It was reported that a bomb was fixed to a small car parked near the Federal Investigation Authority building on Samungli Road that exploded and hit a bus carrying students from the Baluchistan University of Information Technology in Pakistan’s Quetta city. It took place around 8 in the morning.

No group has claimed for the bomb blast yet again. The rescue teams and security forces rushed to the site immediately after the blast was reported.

According to the statements given by the eyewitnesses, the blast left a two-foot-deep crater on the ground. A motorbike and a rickshaw near the blast site were also destroyed.
