The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,45, says he’s going to quit office in his effort to ensure that the anti-graft Jan Lokpal Bill is introduced as a law. Kejriwal warned saying, ‘The Delhi government will fall if there’s no Jan Lokpal.’ The chief minister met this afternoon with the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung. He is the same person was described last week by the chief minister’s party, AAP, as ‘a Congress agent.’

The Lieutenant Governor sought legal opinion on whether the anti-graft bill, renamed as ‘Lokpal’, can be presented for the review of Delhi law makers without the sign-off by Centre. The Union government lawyers said the answer to that question will have to be a no. Kejriwal said he will not seek any sanction of the union government. Kejriwal rejected the point of view that all bills considered by Delhi Assembly need to be cleared by the Centre as well. He announced that this process was not kept in mind for the 13 laws that were introduced by the Congress government in December.

This confrontation has given birth to a new reason for battlement between Kejriwal and the Congress. The two month old partnership between AAP and the Congress has made bothe sides accuse each other of political malpractices. Kejriwal has ordered investigations into many scams that allegedly pointed fingers at senior Congress leaders including former chief minister Sheila Dikshit who was replaced by Kejriwal after a large electoral debut for his new political party, the Aam Aadmi Party.
