The Singaporean Police have seized about 2.2 kg of drugs worth about S$170,000 and have arrested seven people related to the case. This Friday morning a 33-year-old Malaysian man driving a Malaysia-registered car was stopped at the Woodlands Checkpoint.
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) informed about the case in a joint statement this Saturday. “In the course of inspection, the ICA officers found bundles wrapped with black masking tape, suspected to be controlled drugs, hidden in the car’s front fenders,” said the two Home Team agencies. “The seized bundles contained a total of about 1,153g of heroin and 185g of cannabis amounting to a potential street value of more than $127,000.” The CNB then launched a follow-up operation to arrest other drug offenders suspected to be involved in the same case. CNB officers also arrested a 57-year-old Singaporean man and two women, a 41-year-old Singaporean and a 28-year-old Indonesian, at a flat in Bedok.
The officers seized an assortment of drugs, including about 136g of heroin, small amounts of Ice, Ecstasy and Erimin-5 tablets, along with drug-related paraphernalia from the unit. Another three Singaporean men aged between 27 and 38 were arrested in Tampines an hour later. The officers recovered about 700g of cannabis, 371 Erimin-5 tablets and small amounts of Ice and heroin from the Tampines flat. Authorities said the total heroin seized could sustain about 615 addicts for a week.
