The Education Ministry of Malaysia said that it is satisfied with the enhanced security measures taken for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination which start this Monday on the 3rd of November. Its director-general Datuk Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said he was satisfied with the overall compliance with the security of the examination papers. The general met the reporters at the SMK Anderson early this Monday morning where he checked the safe room procedures which involved the distribution of examination papers to the chief invigilators, according to New Straits Times.

“On the whole, I am satisfied with compliance with the standard operating procedures in the distribution of SPM examination papers,” he said in a brief press conference at the school. On the other hand the Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that high security measures will ensure that there is no leakage of questions. “CCTVs have been installed in all strong rooms (where examination papers are stored). This was my immediate order after the leaks in the UPSR happened. We’ve also taken steps to improve way we prepare the question papers and package them (to be transported to schools),” he informed reporters after the visit to SMK Kiaramas this Monday.

It is expected that 455,836 students would be sitting the examination at 3,655 centers nationwide starting this Monday. The month long examination will end on the 4th of December.
