Victorians and South Australians are yet again facing the danger of soaring temperatures on Monday. Reportedly, temperatures hit 43 degrees Celsius in a few parts of Victoria, including Warrnambool and Port Fairy in the south-west.
According to the weather bureau, there will be a trivial relief on Tuesday. The Bureau of Meteorology forecasted a severe fire danger for the northern country.
Peak temperature of around 35 degrees Celsius is predicted for Melbourne, Adelaide would likely reach 37 degrees and temperatures will hit the low 40s in parts of northern and eastern Victoria.
A cool change is likely to bring a number of thunderstorms, but not before the afternoon.
Fire bans have been issued in four regions and fire authorities have warned of the increasing risk of bushfires in both states.
Over 100 fires broke out across Victoria on Monday.
According to the Country Fire Authority, no fires can be lit or remain alight in the open air for 24 hours until midnight tonight, the second consecutive day of bans after Victoria sweltered in rising temperatures yesterday.
