The Australian Olympic swimmers Nick D’Arcy and Kenrick Monk have been posing with high-powered weapons at a gun shop in California, United States. They have been cautioned by the officials after they posted inappropriate photographs on Twitter and Facebook.

These two swimmers came under heavy criticism after posting the photographs online. Australian Chef de Mission Green said “As a member of the 2012 Australian Olympic Team, and as I have reminded you on previous occasions, it is an honor and a privilege to be a member of an Australian Olympic Team.”

He added, “Australian Olympians are required to meet very high standards of conduct and we cannot risk the reputation of the team through non-compliance with the Team Membership Agreement.”

Green also called into question D’Arcy and Monk’s lack of judgment in a letter sent to them. Both of them have been banned from using any social media including Facebook and Twitter throughout the duration of Games and were forced to pay for posting inappropriate photos on social media sites.

Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) decided to send the pair home from the London Games as soon as their Games conclude as a punishment for their photo controversy. Monk claimed a spot on the rally team to feature and D’Arcy would be featuring in 200-meter butterfly in London.

The pair had been named to boost Australia’s medal chances was denied by Green. He said, “This has nothing to do with medals; it is all about upholding team values, in particular the high standards of behavior set by those Olympians who came before you.”
