Between August 2011 and November 2011, members of the Toronto Police Service Drug Squad, with the assistance of Durham Regional Police Service, York Regional Police Service, Belleville Police Service and Hamilton Police Service, conducted an investigation into the alleged illicit sale and distribution of narcotics, primarily ecstasy and cocaine.

The investigation was Project Decepticon. It targeted a network of individuals alleged to be supplying and distributing ecstasy, cocaine and marijuana throughout Toronto. This investigation revealed the organization had ties to York Region, Durham Region, Hamilton and Belleville.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, Project Decepticon culminated with 26 search warrants executed at various addresses across the GTA.

In total, 27 people were arrested and charged with 46 drug-related offences and 70 Criminal Code offences.

It is alleged that, during the search warrants:

– approximately 23,330 ecstasy pills, weighing 5,600 grams with an estimated street value of $466,600, were seized

– approximately 28 grams of crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $1,500, were seized

– approximately 54 grams of powder cocaine, with an estimated street value of $5,940, were seized

– approximately 230 grams of hashish, with an estimated street value of $5,750, were seized

– approximately 85 lbs. of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $343,000, were seized

– two active marijuana grow operations were dismantled, resulting in the seizure of 607 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, with an estimated street value of $607,000

– approximately $104,000 in Canadian currency was seized as proceeds of crime

– approximately $5,000 in U.S. currency was seized as proceeds of crime

– two handguns were seized during this investigation

– six vehicles were seized as offence-related property

– other valuable assets have been identified and are the subject of an ongoing investigation
