A recently taken new poll suggests that a big proportion of the individuals who voted U.K. Independence Party at the European elections will also support the party at the General Election in May 2015.

For the survey, ComRes interviewed 4,078 adult respondents between May 23 and 26.

According to the ComRes survey, around 90 per cent of 4.3 million Britons who voted in favour of Ukip intend to do the same in next general election.

The poll commissioned by Paul Sykes – Ukip’s biggest financial supporter, found 37 per cent of Ukip voters were “certain” to continue to back the party at the 2015 general election. A further 49 per cent were “likely” to support Nigel Farage’s party.

The survey also reveals that the party got able to attract majority of the voters due to its anti-European Union and anti-immigration policy despite many political attacks on Ukip by senior Conservatives.

Still many Tory MPs think that the trend will not persist for long and their supporters will again back them on May 2015. But Mr Sykes has said after the ComRes poll results that this survey outcome should make the Conservatives realise that they have a new threat in shape of Ukip for them at the General Election.
