Ann MaguireA 16-year-old pupil boy has been sentenced a minimum of 20 years in jail on Monday after admitting to stab the Leeds teacher Ann Maguire to death.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has admitted murdering the Corpus Christi Catholic college teacher, 61, nearly a half year back on 28 April while she was taking a class at there, when he appeared at Leeds crown court today.

The boy, after accepting the guilty plea in court, has been sentenced to life with a minimum term of 20 years for murdering Spanish teacher.

The court heard that the teen had a “deep-seated and irrational hatred” of Mrs Maguire and wanted her dead.

Mr Justice Coulson has said that the teenage boy showed a “total and chilling lack of remorse” after stabbing the elderly teacher seven times when he was 15.

The court has heard that during the shocking attack, he chased Mrs Maguire, “stabbing her as she sought to escape”.

The judge set the 20-year tariff – the minimum time the boy must serve in custody before he is released – but added that, having read about him, “it’s quite possible that day may never come”.

He has added the boy showed a “total and chilling lack of remorse” was “truly grotesque”.

The judge has also said that the public killing would leave many “traumatised forever” and showed a level of violence which was “savage and cowardly”.
