Dublin Airport Authority has confirmed the suspension of all flights from the airport in result of the fire that erupted in a hangar at the facility. The airport has suspended services in and out of the facility as officials urge passengers to keep in touch with their airline representatives for the latest update.  The airport fire crews were first to arrive at the scene of the fire that started at around 7am.

In a statement issued by The Dublin Airport Authority, it revealed that “the fire is in a hangar in a restricted area of the airport, which is separate from the passenger facilities.” Record shows that the last plane to land at the airport was a Ryanair flight from Leeds Bradford Airport at 7.26am, whereas the last on-time departure was a Ryanair service to Wroclaw at 7.25am, after which the airport was closed.

The fire ignited in the roof of hangar three, where two short-haul 146 aircrafts were present at the time and one of them is believed to have been operated by CityJet. The spokesperson for the airport has assured that there are no reports of any injuries so far. According to the fire chiefs, the fire was under control at around 8.15am. However, the spokesperson explains that “all flight operations were suspended because all emergency services have been brought to fight the fire and as a result if something happens on the airfield the fire cover is not available. This is standard procedure.”
