An investigation by the DRP’s Guns and Gangs Unit (G&G) into street-level cocaine sales in Durham Region led them to a Toronto residence yesterday, where they seized an assault style semi-automatic rifle.

In early 2011, members of the G&G Unit began an investigation into a Toronto man who was allegedly selling cocaine in various locations in Durham Region.

On Thursday, June 2, 2011 at approximately 9 a.m., G&G officers executed a search warrant at a Town Centre Court address in Toronto as part of this ongoing drug investigation. They arrested two people, seized a small quantity of marihuana, cell phones, currency, weigh scales and a .22 calibre M16 semi-automatic assault-style rifle.

Kareem REMEY, a.k.a Chris Walker, age 33 of Town Centre Court in Toronto is facing 11 charges, including: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2; Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Firearm Obtained By Crime; Obstruct Police; Drive While Disqualified. He was held for a bail hearing.

Daphne REMEY, age 25 of Town Centre Court in Toronto is facing four charges, including: Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm; Possession of a Firearm Obtained By Crime. She was held for a bail hearing.

During this investigation, officers seized a total of $12,600 in cocaine, $130 in marihuana and $1,460 in Canadian currency.
