The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a food tampering investigation.

It is reported that:

– on Thursday, June 9, 2011, a package of "Andy Boy" Romaine lettuce hearts, two in a package, was purchased from a grocery store, either in the Midland Avenue/Lawrence Avenue West area or Lawrence Avenue East/Birchmount Road area

– a two-inch sewing needle was found pierced into the spine of the lettuce,

– the packaging was clear with pink lettering.

Further investigation has revealed that the lettuce was purchased from the No Frills store, in the Golden Mile Plaza, 1880 Eglinton Avenue East.
