After the EPS released information about the accused on July 6, many women came forward with information. In many of the incidents the females allege they were approached from behind and touched inappropriately before the suspect fled the scene.
Darrell Julian Walker, 39, has been charged with sexual assault (x16) and one attempted sexual assault; in addition to his previous charges laid on July 6 of sexual assault (x3), possession of stolen property under $5,000, illegal possession of government documents and possession of credit card data. The accused also has three outstanding warrants.
Police need the public’s help in locating a man they believe is responsible for several sexual assaults in the city since June 28, occurring between 102 Street and 107 Street, and Jasper Avenue and 104 Avenue.
Just after 8 p.m. on July 6 the Downtown Division CIS Project Team observed a male in the area of 103 Street and 103 Avenue that matched the description of a suspect believed to be responsible for nine sex assaults. The suspect was observed following a female for several blocks near Grant MacEwan University. Downtown Division patrol officers approached and spoke to the male at approximately 9 p.m. after they observed him jaywalking. He was arrested shortly after on outstanding warrants.
