Domestic Assault Leads to Chilliwack Man Being Stabbed

Glenna Darlene Joe, born 1979-09-26, has been officially charged with Aggravated Assault, pursuant to Section 268(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada in connection with the stabbing of her live-in boyfriend at a residence in the 5800 block of Vedder Road on Sunday afternoon.

Ms. Joe remains in custody and will appear for a show cause hearing on July 28, 2011, at 9:30 a.m.

The victim, a 47 year old man from Chilliwack, remains in hospital in serious condition. His name is not being released at this time.

Background:

Chilliwack, BC: On Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 3:30 pm, Emergency Health Services(EHS) requested assistance from the Chilliwack RCMP for a 47 year old Chilliwack man who had been stabbed in the abdomen at a residence in the 5800 block of Vedder Road.

The victim was transported to the Chilliwack General Hospital where he underwent surgery prior to being transferred to Peace Arch Hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Police arrested a 31 year old Chilliwack woman at the scene who was living with the man at the time of the assault. She remains in custody at this time and is facing a charge of attempt to commit murder. She will be attending the Chilliwack Provincial Court this afternoon.

The Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit has assumed conduct of this ongoing investigation. They will continue to investigate and is currently seeking a Judicial Authorization to search the residence of the couple. The Lower Mainland Forensic Identification Section will also be assisting in the investigating once the search warrant is executed later on today.
