On July 28th, 2011 Surrey RCMP received a 911 call, reporting a stabbing in progress, from a business complex located in the 8100 block of 128th Ave. Surrey, BC.

First responders attended the scene and located a deceased female who appeared to have been the victim of multiple stab wounds. A 26 year old male was arrested at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 24 year old, Surrey resident, Ravinder BHANGU.

A male victim, who attempted to intervene and stop the attack was also located at the scene and was transported to an area hospital by BC Ambulance Services. He has since been treated for minor injuries and released.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been deployed and is now leading the investigation with the assistance of Surrey RCMP and the Lower Mainland District Forensic Identification Unit.

IHIT would like to assure the public that this is not a random attack. The suspect, who initially refused to identify himself to police, has now been identified. The suspect and the victim had been married since 2009.

At this time, there is no indication that the motive of the attack was related to the business for which the female worked.

IHIT investigators are conducting interviews with witnesses and will be canvassing the area to speak with any additional witnesses.
