Kathy Dunderdale, the successor to crazily infamous ex- premier Danny Williams, will try to lead her Tories to a win in the province’s voting scheduled for Oct. 11. Dunderdale recently sat with Lt.-Gov. John Crosbie to suspend the provincial legislature, where her party formed a majority by securing 43 out of 48 seats in contrast to four Liberals and one New Democrat.

Dunderdale says her aim is to embark another eight-year dream for the people who first supported the Tories about a decade ago.

She said: “I think that what we have to say will resonate with them again, and together we’re going to build a wonderful future for this place.”

Parallel to her thoughts, the party’s slogan is “We’ve never been stronger!”

When Dunderdale was asked about the previous leader Williams, she said: “Mr. Williams is in private life now. I have good people all around me who are anxious to get on with this campaign, and that’s where our focus is going to be.”

59 year old Dunderdale put her mark on her foremost budget in April 2010 with a $7.3-billion big-spending fiscal plan. It integrated cash to make child-care spaces and reinforcement agendas and services for seniors and people with disabilities. However, skeptics believe the administration should focus on reducing the net debt, which was estimated to rise by roughly $460 million to around $8.7 billion.
