A 35-year-old male and a 20-year-old male died last night after their motorcycles were involved in separate collisions.

The first motorcycle collision occurred downtown on 105 Street at 97 Avenue just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. It appears that a 35-year-old male riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle northbound on 105 Street sideswiped the passenger side of a Ford Ranger truck that was in the process of changing lanes, then he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a curb and a street light. EMS provided medical treatment, but the male died on scene.

The second motorcycle collision occurred at South Terwillegar Drive at about 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. It appears that a 20-year-old male without a helmet was riding his Honda motorcycle around an apartment parking lot when he lost control of his motorcycle, tipped the bike onto its side, and slid into a curb. EMS provided medical treatment, but the male died on scene.

The EPS Traffic Section continues to investigate both crashes, but speed is believed to be a contributing factor in both collisions.
