Sensitive footage from RCMP cameras is in public hands after police accidentally left unmonitored spy cameras that were pointed out by a former crime suspect. Two RCMP cameras containing evidence of police surveillance and unrelated investigations was found in trees in Grand Forks, B.C.
Both the spy cameras were discovered when they flickered on Dion Nordick’s B.C. land. According to his lawyer, Jesse Gelber, evidence from the memory cards proves that people installing the equipment in the middle of the night were RCMP officers.
“They’ve demanded them back and Mr. Nordick has asked for an explanation of why the cameras were on property that he was in legal possession of,” Mr. Gelber said.
“I don’t know what the rhyme and reason of the police investigation is here,” he said, adding the cameras are now in a safe place.
“They’ve alleged that they were on public land and our position is that they were not. And of course, if they were not on public land then there may be a trespass involved.”
He also said that police may have entered his client’s property without a warrant.
Moreover, other evidence was also found in the memory cards, but Gelber avoided sharing that information since it was not related to his client.
