The homicide unit of Toronto Police Service has confirmed to be investigating a case after a body was discovered in a ravine in Etobicoke late Monday night. The body was found when three people were walking along a trail off of Caulfield Road, near Islington and Bergamot avenues, at around 11:30 p.m. Det. Stephen Matthews revealed on Tuesday that “these citizens recognized that this male needed medical assistance and attended a nearby residence to call 911.”

Meanwhile, Matthews confirmed that paramedics and police arrived on the scene shortly and found out that the man was shot multiple times to death. According to the investigators, they have identified the victim but the identity cannot be released publicly until the next-of kin have been notified. The force only mentioned that the man was in his 30s and a resident of Toronto but he did not live in the neighbourhood where he was found.

According to the investigators, they have figured out that the incident took place in the wooded area at the location of the body but it is yet to be determined when the victim was shot. The force did not reveal any information of the suspect either. Right now, the Investigators are looking for video surveillance footage in the area. According to Matthews, “the area itself is a ravine and there’s homes on either side,” adding that “we are appealing to any residents that were in the area, either on the trail or live near it, that heard or saw anything.”
