A woman’s body was found in a ditch on Monday morning, says Saskatoon RCMP. The body “is believed to be that of an adult female,” RCMP says.

“The body was discovered by a passer-by and the passer-by was out running their dog this morning,” explained Staff Sgt. Rob Eyre of the Saskatoon RCMP.

RCMP is treating the discovery as a “sudden death,” calling it suspicious.

Around five police vehicles were on the scene late Monday morning and police were talking to a motorist, the person who called the police.

RCMP received a call at 9:45 a.m. CST about a body on a service road just off Highway 16. According to the police, identity of the deceased woman has not yet been confirmed.

An investigation is been carried out by the RCMP’s major crimes unit. In addition, a forensic team identification unit, dog unit and traffic re-constructionist are also involved in the case.

The police are using a small helicopter to take aerial photographs of the scene.

“It’s early in the stages,” said RCMP Staff Sgt. Rob Eyre.
